Good and Bad News

The bad news is the Dolphins went down to top-ranked Prince Alfred OC by 47 points yesterday at Dolphin Park.

The good news is that despite the loss the Dolphins have retained second spot on the ladder courtesy of a surprise Scotch OC victory over Old Ignatians. Still in touch at the last change on what was a perfect winters day the Dolphins never seemed to get going and in the end fell short. Amongst the best players were Alan Margitich, Daniel Megins, Geordi 'Hotdogs' Haklar and Matthew Owen. In what was a quite day up forward Cuong Phan booted 2 goals and was our only multiple goal scorer.

The B Grade paid the penalty for a slow start suffering an 88-point loss. Jordan Young, Andre Vette and Damon Rossetto were amongst the best. Congratulations again to Anthony 'Buckets' Andolfatto who acheived Player Life Membership playing his 175th game for the Dolphins yesterday. Well done Buckets!

It was great to see the huge turnout for this years Veterans Day. Once again stories of how good we were abounded as the beer flowed from the Scoreboard Bar and later on at the Hackney Hotel. As someone famous once said "Don't be a stranger" - it is always good to see some old faces and it would be better to see them more often! If you have a spare hour or two on a Saturday pop out a see the boys. There is no better way to spend a Saturday then watching the Dolphins trounce the opposition!

Next week we travel to Mitcham looking for a return to the winners list. Mitcham are a team we have met many times over the years (19 times in fact) with the honours shared 10-9 in favour of the good guys. With a number of players due to return from injury it should be a cracking game as Mitcham are always difficult to beat on their deck.

See you at the game.

Go you Dolphins!
